Mesillas Yesharim 3 (Introduction)

In order for one's avodat Hashem to be complete it must be accompanied by a level of simplicity. The yetzer hara is always present, even when learning. It is easy to turn learning Torah into a purely intellectual pursuit. If one doesn't take the time to cultivate reverence and love of Hashem, one can't expect to achieve it.
