Sick people and those caring for them are not obligated in the mitzvah of succah. This applies not only to those who are dangerously ill; it also applies to a person with a headache or whose eyes ache. One who is pained is not obligated in the mitzvah of succah but his attendants are still obligated. The definition of “pained” is one who cannot sleep in the succah because of the wind, insects or the smell.

A mourner is obligated in the mitzvah of succah. A groom, his attendants and the members of the wedding party are not obligated the mitzvah of succah for the week of sheva brachos.
