1,125. More About Grain, Flour and Dough on Pesach

Chometz u’Matzah 5:19

A woman may not soak bran that she plans to take to the bathhouse (for use as a loofah) but she may rub dry bran on her skin. One may not chew wheat to place on a wound because it will leaven. Flour may not be used as an ingredient in charoses. If one made charoses using flour, he must burn it immediately because it will leaven very quickly. Flour should likewise not be placed in mustard; if one did so, it must be eaten immediately. [Of course, the Ashkenazi practice is not to eat mustard on Passover at all.]

Chometz u’Matzah 5:20

It is permitted to put spices, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, etc. into dough on Passover. [Again, the practice of Ashkenazim is not to use such seeds on Pesach.] It is likewise permitted to knead dough using water and oil, honey or milk, or to baste it with these liquids. On the first day of Passover, one may not knead or baste with anything other than water. This is not because of the prohibition against chometz but because of the obligation for matzah to be “poor bread” (lechem oni). Lechem oni is only a requirement on the first day of Passover.
