1,114. Inedible Chometz Mixtures
Chometz u’Matzah 4:9
An example of an inedible chometz mixture is a tanner’s trough into which flour and hides were placed. Even if this was done an hour before chometz must be destroyed, it may be kept. If flour was placed in the trough without hides three days before the time to destroy chometz, it may likewise be kept because the chometz has certainly spoiled by then. If flour is placed in the trough within three days of the time to destroy chometz, it must be destroyed.
Chometz u’Matzah 4:10
Similarly, eye salve, a compress, a plaster and similar medicinal treatments into which chometz is placed may be retained over Passover because the chometz in them is inherently ruined.
