1,107. Nullifying Chometz

Chometz u’Matzah 3:6

When one searches for chometz on the night of 14 Nisan, on the day of 14 Nisan or during the course of Passover, before he starts he recites the bracha that God has commanded us regarding the destruction of chometz. One must check all the places where chometz is brought, as has been explained. If one searches after Passover, he does not recite a bracha.

Chometz u’Matzah 3:7

After one finishes searching, if he searched on the night of 14 Nisan or on the day of 14 Nisan before the sixth hour, he nullifies all the chometz that may remain in his possession that he does not see. He says, “All chometz that is in my possession that I have not seen is nullified and considered like dust.” If one searches from the start of the sixth hour and on, he can no longer nullify his chometz because it is not in his possession, since he may no longer benefit from it.
