1,048. More About Sending a Gift

Shvisas Yom Tov 5:7

Pursuant to halacha 5:6, one may not send another person grain on yom tov because it cannot be used on weekdays without grinding it, which is prohibited on yom tov. We may, however, send pulse, because these could be cooked or roasted and eaten on yom tov. We may send someone a wild or domesticated animal or a bird on yom tov, even alive, because it is permitted to slaughter on yom tov. The same principle applies in all similar situations.

Shvisas Yom Tov 5:8

If one person sends another a gift that may be sent on yom tov, he may not send it with a group of three or more people. For example, if a person sends his friend animals or wine with a group of three people who walk together, or a group of four who walk single file one behind the other, it is prohibited so that we should not behave in the normal weekday manner. It is permitted to send three different types of gift with three different people even if they walk together.
