1,047. Sending a Gift on Yom Tov
Shvisas Yom Tov 5:5
If someone has produce on his roof and he needs to move it, he may not pass it from one roof to another even if they are both the same height. He may likewise not lower it by a rope from a window or carry it down on a ladder. All of these are prohibited so that one will not act in the normal weekday manner. One may drop it down through an skylight. If a person slaughters an animal in the fields, it may not be carried into the city on a pole, whether small or large. Rather, one should carry the animal’s limbs individually.
Shvisas Yom Tov 5:6
On yom tov, a person is permitted to send someone else any item that could be used on a weekday even if that item cannot be used on yom tov, such as tefillin. It goes without saying that a person may send things that can be used on yom tov, like wine, oil and flour. However, if one could not use the object on a weekday without performing a labor that is prohibited on yom tov, then one may not send such an item on yom tov.
