1,001. Anointing on Yom Kippur

Shvisas Asor 3:8

Everyone is permitted to wear sandals as protection against being bitten by scorpions and similar creatures. A woman who has given birth may wear sandals for 30 days to protect herself from a chill. This likewise applies to other sick people even if they are not dangerously ill.

Shvisas Asor 3:9

Just as one may not anoint one's entire body, one may not anoint even a portion of the body. This applies both to anointing that gives one pleasure and anointing that does not give one pleasure. If a person is sick or has sores on his scalp, he may anoint himself in the regular manner without hesitation.
