Anything only worn to protect your clothing can't be worn outside on Shabbos (without an eruv). Putting something in one's mouth to remove bad breath, carrying medicine on Shabbos. Replacing a bandage that fell off on Shabbos. Leggings tied on with a band. Wearing a bracelet/anklet on Shabbos.

If something can be worn in a reshut harabim, it can be adjusted in reshut harabim.
