860. A Bolt Tied to Its Door
Shabbos 26:10
If a bolt without a bulb at the end is tied to and hanging from the door, it may be used to bolt the door on Shabbos. Such a bolt may be carried together with the rope that attaches it to the door. If the rope is permanently attached to the door and the bolt is removed from the rope and reattached as one desires, it may not be used on Shabbos because then the bolt is not considered a utensil and there is no visual indication that it is being used as a utensil because it is not attached to the door or the rope.
Shabbos 26:11
A candelabra made of several parts may not be moved on Shabbos whether it is large or small. This is a safeguard against the possibility of the candelabra coming apart, leading one to reassemble it on Shabbos. What if a candelabra has ridges that make it resemble one that is made up of parts? If it is so large that it can only be carried with two hands, carrying it is prohibited because of its weight; smaller than that, it may be carried.
