832. Saving Food from a Fire
Shabbos 23:21
If a fire breaks out on Friday night, one may save enough food for three meals, including both human food for people and fodder for animals. If a fire breaks out on Shabbos morning, one may save enough for two meals; on Shabbos afternoon, enough for one meal.
Shabbos 23:22
The rule about only taking enough food for one’s needs applies when one uses many vessels to save the food or when one uses a single vessel, repeatedly emptying and re-filling it. However, if one removes a single vessel at one time, he is permitted to do so even if it contains enough food for many meals.
