728. A Yard Behind Houses

Shabbos 16:10

If a yard behind some houses is larger than needed to plant two seah of seed, one may only carry within four cubits, even when the houses open to the yard. If one makes an entrance from one of the houses to the yard and subsequently encloses it, then the yard would be considered enclosed for the purposes of a dwelling and one may carry throughout the enclosure.

Shabbos 16:11

Let’s say that a yard opens to a city on one side and a path leading to a river on the other side. If one erects a post on the side facing the city, we may carry both within the yard and back and forth between the yard and the city.
