567. Those Who Died as a Result
Milah 1:17
If a baby has a yellow complexion on the eighth day, he is not circumcised until his blood recovers and his complexion returns to that of a healthy infant. Similarly, if the baby’s complexion is very red, he is not circumcised until his blood recovers and his complexion returns to that of a healthy infant. This is an example of an illness and proper caution must be exercised.
Milah 1:18
If a woman had her first son circumcised and he died because of it, and the same thing happened to her second son, she should not circumcise her third son at the appointed time. In such a case, she should wait until he gets older and stronger. This is so whether the first two sons had the same father as the third or not. We do not circumcise a baby with any illness at all because a danger to life takes priority over everything else. A bris can always be held later but we cannot bring someone back to life.
