538. Shehechiyanu
Brachos 10:1
The Sages instituted other brachos, as well as a number of other things, as praises and acknowledgements of God, lacking the opening and concluding phrases of longer brachos. An example is reciting shehechiyanu when building a new house or buying new utensils. In such a case, one recites “Blessed are You, Hashem our God, Who has given us life, sustained us and caused us to reach this occasion.” This bracha is recited whether or not one already has such items.
Brachos 10:2
Similarly, one who sees a friend after a span of 30 days recites shehechiyanu. After 12 months, one recites the blessing “Who revives the dead.” If a person sees a fruit that only grows at a specific time each year, he recites shehechiyanu when he sees it for the first time.
