512. Water Unfit for Animals
Brachos 6:9
Any water that is unfit for a dog to drink, be it because it’s bitter, salty, murky, or malodorous, may not be used for washing hands from a vessel but one may immerse his hands in it if such water is in the ground. One may immerse his hands in the Tiberias hot springs but if one removed some of their water in a vessel or diverted a stream of it to another place, they may not be used for washing – neither before nor after the meal - because they are unfit for an animal to drink.
Brachos 6:10
One may pour water over his hands a little bit at a time until he has poured the entire volume. If he poured the entire revi’is at once, that is also acceptable. Four or five people standing next to each other with their hands one above another may wash with one pouring so long as they leave sufficient space between their hands for the water to enter and there is enough water that each of them is poured with a revi’is (a little more than three ounces).
