377. Starting Hilchos Tefillin, Mezuzah and Sefer Torah

Tefillah u’Birkas Kohanim 15:12

A kohein who does not get up to duchan technically fails to perform one mitzvah but it’s like he ignored three mitzvos: “This is how you shall bless,” “Say to them,” and “You shall set My Name” (Numbers 6:23-27). If a kohein does not recite birkas kohanim, he will not be blessed, while any kohein who blesses the people will be blessed, as per Genesis 12:3, “I will bless those who bless you.”

Tefillin, Mezuzah v’Sefer Torah 1:1

Tefillin consists of four Torah passages: Exodus 13:1-10, Exodus13:11-16, Deuteronomy 6:4-9, and Deuteronomy 11:13-21. These passages are written separately and covered with leather. They are placed on one’s head and tied on one’s arm. Even a tiny point of one of the letters can render the entire tefillin invalid; all four passages must be written properly.
