Sheviis 3:7-8

Sheviis 3:7

Regarding stones that are unearthed by a plow, or that were below the ground and became uncovered, if there are two stones each requiring two men to move them, all the stones may be removed. If one removes the stones from his field, he may take the upper layer but he must leave the ones lying directly on the ground (to make it clear that he is doing this because he needs the stones and not in order to clear the field). Similarly, if he has a pile of small stones or pebbles, he may take the top ones but he must leave the base layer on the ground. If there is rocky ground or straw under the pile, he can take the whole pile (because the ground is still not fit to be tilled).

Sheviis 3:8

One may not build steps near rain gullies in the sixth year after the rains have stopped because this would constitute making them for the sabbatical year. One may build them in the sabbatical year after the rains have stopped because this would constitute making them for the eighth year. If one does so in the sabbatical year for use in the eighth year, he may not seal the steps with dirt but he may make a barrier. He can remove any stone that can be reached by hand.
