315. The Repetition of Shemoneh Esrei

Tefillah u’Birkas Kohanim 9:2

Immediately after the bracha of Ga’al Yisrael, everyone stands and davens Shemoneh Esrei in an undertone. One who doesn’t know how to daven should stand by silently while the prayer leader davens with the others. When one finishes davening with the congregation, he takes three steps back then stands in place.

Tefillah u’Birkas Kohanim 9:3

After the prayer leader takes his three steps backwards and stands still, he repeats Shemoneh Esrei out load from the beginning in order to fulfill the obligation of prayer for those who don’t know how. Everyone, regardless of whether or not they already fulfilled their obligation to pray, must stand, listen to the repetition of Shemoneh Esrei, and reply “Amen” after each bracha.
