301. Morning Blessings - part 1

Tefillah u’Birkas Kohanim 7:4

When one hears a rooster crow, he recites, “Blessed are You, Hashem, our God, King of the universe, Who gives the rooster the understanding necessary to distinguish between day and night.”

When putting on his clothes, one recites, “…Who clothes the naked.”

When putting on his headgear, one recites, “…Who crowns Israel with glory.”

When cleaning his eyes, one recites, “…Who opens the eyes of the blind.”

When sitting up in his bed, one recites, “…Who frees the captive.”

When placing his feet on the ground, one recites, “…Who spreads the earth over the waters.”

When standing up, one recites, “…Who straightens the bent.”

When washing the hands, one recites, “…Who has sanctified us with His commandments and commanded us regarding washing the hands.”

When one washes his face, he recites, “Blessed are You, Hashem, our God, King of the universe, who removes the bonds of sleep from my eyes and slumber from my eyelids. May it be Your will, Hashem, my God and the God of my fathers, that You make me used to performing mitzvos and not to sins or transgressions. Cause my inclination towards good to rule over me rather than the inclination towards evil. Strengthen me in Your commandments and may my portion be in Your Torah. Enable me to find favor, kindness and mercy in Your eyes and the eyes of all who see me, and grant me benevolent kindness. Blessed are You, Hashem, who grants benevolent kindness.”

Tefillah u’Birkas Kohanim 7:5

Before entering the restroom, one says, “Be honored, honored holy ones, servants of the One on High. Help me, protect me, and wait for me from when I enter until I come out, as this is the way of human beings.” After exiting, one recites, “Blessed are You, Hashem, our God, King of the universe, Who formed man with wisdom and created within him many openings and passages. It is known before the throne of Your glory that if one of these were to become blocked or opened, it would be impossible for a person to survive even for a moment. Blessed are You, Hashem, Who heals all flesh and works wonders.”
