Machshirin 3:2-3
Machshirin 3:2
If an earthenware jar of produce is placed in a liquid, or if a jar full of liquid was placed into produce, and the produce absorbed moisture, ki yutan applies to whatever was absorbed. This only applies to water, wine and vinegar; other liquids do not render it susceptible to impurity in this case. Rabbi Nechemya rules it insusceptible in the case of pulse, which doesn’t absorb.
Machshirin 3:3
Rabbi Meir says that if one removed hot bread from the oven and placed it over the mouth of a jar of wine, he renders the bread susceptible to impurity, though Rabbi Yehuda rules it insusceptible. Rabbi Yosi rules it insusceptible if of wheat and susceptible if of barley, which absorbs.
