140. The Proselytizer (Meisis)

One who carries out the judgment of a condemned city is considered as if he offered a burnt offering as per Deuteronomy 13:17, “...for Hashem, your God.” Not only that, carrying out this judgment turns away God’s wrath as per Deuteronomy 13:18, “so that God may turn from His fierce anger.” It actually brings blessing and mercy as the verse continues, “He will grant you mercy, have compassion on you and multiply you.”

Avodas Kochavim 5:1

If someone proselytizes a single Jew, either man or woman, to idolatry, the proselytizer is executed by stoning. This is so even if neither the proselytizer nor the one being proselytized actually performed an act of idolatry; so long as the proselytizer told his target to worship falsely, he is stoned. It makes no difference whether the proselytizer was a prophet or a regular person, or whether the target was a single person or several people.
