119. More About Lifting Bans

Talmud Torah 7:10 (in some editions, 7:11)

If someone was placed under a conditional ban, even if he imposed the ban upon himself, it must be nullified. If a Torah scholar placed himself under a ban, even if he made the ban conditional on another person’s consent, and even if he issued the ban for a reason that would actually call for it, he may nullify the ban himself.

Talmud Torah 7:11 (in some editions, 7:12)

If a person dreams that he was placed under a ban, it takes ten people who are knowledgeable in these laws to release him, even if he knows who placed the ban. If he cannot find the necessary people where he is, he must travel a parsa (about 2.5 miles) to find such people. If he still cannot find the necessary people, the ban may be lifted even by ten who study Mishna. If he cannot find these, the ban may be lifted even by ten people who know how to read the Torah. If he cannot find these ten, the ban may be lifted by any three.
