118. Lifting a Ban

Talmud Torah 7:8

If a person was placed under a ban by a panel of three who subsequently departed, if the offender corrects his behavior, three others may release him from the ban.

(Editor’s note: In some – perhaps most – editions, there is no halacha 7:8, and this halacha is numbered 7:9.)

If someone does not know who placed him under the ban, he should go to the nasi, who can release him.
