209:3 A mourner is not permitted to anoint himself for pleasure, not even a little. To do so in order to remove dirt, however, is permitted, and it is certainly permitted for medicinal purposes, such as if he has scabs on his head.

209:4 If a person must undergo an extended mourning period because he lost two close relatives one right after the other, then he is permitted to wash in cold water.
