All You Need Is Love

Q. If God was alone (before Creation), how could He love? God existed before anything else. Did God create love and if so, how could He conceive of it?

A. By that logic, how did God conceive of planets before there were planets, and how did He conceive of people before He created them? God conceived these things and then He created them. His ability to do so should not surprise us because He’s God!

Q. Love does not exist in isolation; it has to have a complementary party.

A. I disagree with this assertion. Doesn’t the Bible say “Love your neighbor as yourself”? It’s evident from this that a person should love himself – no complementary party necessary! If we’re supposed to love God, does it not similarly follow that God loves Himself, whatever that means? (It’s difficult to attribute human emotions to God – “My thoughts are not like your thoughts” – Isaiah 55:8.)
