1,280. Two Bodies to Bury
198:5 If there are two bodies, the one who died first is taken out for burial first. After burying the first, we don't stand by in a row and we don't recite the blessing to the mourners or other words of comfort so that we should not to delay the second burial. If they want the one who died first to remain unburied overnight for his own honor, then we don't delay the second burial. In such a case, we bury the second person immediately.
198:6 If one of the deceased was a Torah scholar and the other was an unlearned person, we take the scholar to be buried first even if the unlearned person died first. If one was a man and the other a woman, we take the woman out to be buried first, even if the man died first, as per Numbers 20:1, "Miriam died there and was buried there," from which see that she was buried immediately after her death.
