1,278. Death in the City vs. in a Small Town
198:1 If there is a death in the city, the residents are not allowed to work. If there is a local burial society designated to take care of the needs of the deceased, then those who aren't needed are permitted to work.
198:2 If there is a death in a small town, the residents don't extend greetings to one another. This is especially the case in the cemetery when there is a body there, even in a large city. However, if there is no unburied body in a cemetery, then one may greet others if he is at least four cubits (about six feet) from the graves.
