Ohalos 5:3-4

Ohalos 5:3

If the pot in the previous scenario was unperforated, Beis Hillel say that it protects everything in the attic from ritual impurity. Beis Shammai say that it only protects food, drink and other earthenware vessels. Beis Hillel subsequently retracted their opinion and ruled like the opinion of Beis Shammai.

Ohalos 5:4

If there was a jar full of ritually-clean liquid in the attic, the jar contracts seven-day uncleanliness but the liquid remains ritually pure. If the liquid was poured into another vessel, it is rendered impure. If a woman was kneading in a trough in the attic, both the woman and the trough are rendered unclean with seven-day impurity but the dough remains ritually clean. If the dough was emptied into another vessel, it is rendered impure. At first, Beis Hillel disagreed but they subsequently retracted their opinion and ruled like Beis Shammai.
