Ohalos 5:1-2

Ohalos 5:1

Let’s say that an oven stood in a house with its chimney covered towards the outside and people burying a corpse overshadowed it. In such a case, Beis Shammai say that everything in the oven and the house is rendered unclean. Beis Hillel say that the contents of the oven are rendered unclean but those of the house remain clean. Rabbi Akiva says that even the oven remains clean.

Ohalos 5:2

Let’s say that there was a hatch between the main floor of a house and its attic. If a pot was placed over this hatch and it was perforated sufficiently that liquid could enter, then Beis Shammai say that everything in both the pot and the attic is rendered unclean. Beis Hillel say that the contents of the pot are rendered unclean but those of the attic remain clean. Rabbi Akiva says that everything remains clean.
