3,795. Blowing Shofar in Yoveil

Hilchos Shemittah v’Yoveil 10:9

When yoveil is observed, we also observe the laws of Hebrew servants, of houses in walled cities, of dedicated fields and of hereditary fields. We accept non-Jews as resident aliens, shemittah is observed in Israel and debts are canceled everywhere under Biblical law. When yoveil isn’t observed, neither are the aforementioned except for shemittah in Israel and the cancelation of debts everywhere, both by rabbinic enactment, as has already been discussed.

Hilchos Shemittah v’Yoveil 10:10

There is a Torah obligation to blow shofar on the tenth day of Tishrei in yoveil. This mitzvah is given initially to the Sanhedrin, but every individual is also obligated to blow shofar. This is derived from Leviticus 25:9: “You shall proclaim (with) the shofar (singular, referring to the court)…and you shall sound the shofar (plural, referring to each individual).” We blow nine shofar blasts the same as is done on Rosh Hashana. Shofar is blown all throughout the boundaries of Israel.
