1,238. A Dangerously-Ill Person
192:6 Some authorities say that anything that is only prohibited for use by rabbinic law is permitted for medicinal purposes even if the patient is not in danger and even in a way that gives him benefit so long as he does not eat or drink the item in question.
192:7 If a sick person is in danger, he may be treated with any forbidden item. This is because nothing takes priority over saving a life except for idolatry, sexual morality and murder. One must give up his life rather than transgress these laws, so we may not do these things in order to cure a sick person.
