1,233. Horses That Cannot Manage Their Load
191:2 If horses are pulling a wagon and they come to a rough spot or a high hill so that they are not able to continue without help, then one is required to help. This is because of alleviating animal suffering so it makes no difference if the wagon driver is Jewish or non-Jewish. The non-Jewish drivers would beat the horses to make them pull more than they should be able, so we want to prevent that scenario.
191:3 We are not allowed to tie the feet of any wild or domesticated animal or bird in a way that would cause it pain.
