1,213. Disciplining a Child

184:2 Even if one's servant doesn't obey him, it is forbidden to strike him. One is permitted to spank his young children or a foster child he is raising as one of his own in order to discipline them. This is permitted because one is doing it for the child's benefit.

184:3 One must be careful not to throw pieces of broken glass or similar such things in a place where they might hurt someone.
