The egg mentioned in halacha as a measure is neither large nor small but medium-sized. Rabbi Yehuda says that the largest possible egg and the smallest possible egg are put in water and the volume of the displaced water is divided in half. Rabbi Yosi says that no one can determine the largest and smallest eggs. Rather, everything is based on the individual’s estimation.

The dried fig mentioned in halacha as a measure is neither large nor small but medium-sized. Rabbi Yehuda says that the largest fig of Israel is the average-sized fig of other lands.
