Tamid 3:2-3
Tamid 3:2
The Temple official told the kohanim to go out and see if it was time to slaughter the offering. If it was, the observer would say, “Barkai!” (“It shines!”) Masya ben Shmuel says that he would announce when the entire east had lit up. They would ask, “As far as Chevron?” and he would reply in the affirmative.
Tamid 3:3
The official told the kohanim to go out and bring a lamb from the lamb chamber. The lamb chamber was in the northwest corner of the courtyard. There were four chambers there: the lamb chamber, the token chamber, the fire-burning chamber and the chamber where they made the showbread.
