Meilah 2:3-4

Meilah 2:3

The laws of misappropriation apply to bulls and goats that are to be burned from the time that they’re consecrated. After they’ve been slaughtered, they can be rendered unfit by a t’vul yom, by one who must still bring an offering to effect atonement, or by being left overnight. Once the blood has been sprinkled, the laws of piggul, nosar and ritual impurity apply, and misappropriation applies in the place of ashes until the animal has been burned to ash.

Meilah 2:4

The laws of misappropriation apply to a burnt offering from the time that it’s consecrated. After it’s been slaughtered, it can be rendered unfit by a t’vul yom, by one who must still bring an offering to effect atonement, or by being left overnight. Once the blood has been sprinkled, the laws of piggul, nosar and ritual impurity apply; misappropriation doesn’t apply to the animal’s hide (which goes to the kohanim) but it does apply to the flesh until it’s taken to the place of ashes.
