3,477. Produce Brought Into Israel From Elsewhere

When Chazal instituted the rules of demai, they didn’t apply it to produce that was brought into Israel from other lands.

Hilchos Maaser 13:11

If most of the produce in a mixture is from Israel, it is subject to the rules of demai. If most of the produce is from other lands, the rules of demai do not apply. This is true even of species that usually come from outside of Israel, such as nuts and plums.
