3,302. A Sotah and Terumah

Terumos 8:14

If a woman marries a kohein who lacks mental competence or who raped her, or if a kohein seduces her and she gives birth to his child, she may eat terumah because of the child. This is the case even though there’s a doubt – since they weren’t betrothed, it’s possible that someone else is the father. Nevertheless, there is a presumption that the child was fathered by the one with whom she was intimate. This is only the case so long as there weren’t rumors about this woman being intimate with someone else – they only talk about her having been with this kohein. The same rules apply when a Yisroel who lacks mental competence is intimate with the daughter of a kohein, or a Yisroel raped or seduced her and made her pregnant: she may not eat terumah on account of the fetus. If she fails to carry to term, she may resume eating terumah.

Terumos 8:15

[The following halacha refers to the case of a sotah.] If the witnesses that a woman was warned by her kohein husband against seclusion with another man and the witnesses that she actually was secluded testify against her, she may not eat terumah until after she has undergone the sotah process. Ths is out of concern that she may have been rendered a zonah (in its technical sense). If her husband dies before she drinks the bitter waters, or if she’s one of the women who neither drink the bitter waters nor receive the value of their kesubahs (see Hilchos Sotah 2:2), she may never eat terumah again. If the wife of a kohein confesses to adultery, she may no longer terumah.
