3,271. Terumah From Wine and Vinegar

Terumos 5:20

Let’s say that someone took oil as terumah for olives that he planned to eat, or he took olives for olives when he planned to eat them all but he changed his mind and decided to press them and he actually pressed them after taking terumah for them. In such cases, he need not take terumah again. This is also the case if one takes wine as terumah for grapes that he planned to eat, or he took grapes for grapes when he planned to eat them all but he changed his mind and decided to tread them for wine and he actually tread them after taking terumah for them.

Terumos 5:21

We don’t take vinegar as terumah for wine, but one may take wine as terumah for vinegar. This is because wine and vinegar are essentially the same kind (and wine is the superior version). If one intended to take wine as terumah for wine but it was found that he took vinegar, what he separated isn’t terumah. If he intended to take vinegar as terumah for vinegar and it was found that what he took was wine, what he separated is terumah.
