Numbers 11:12
הֶאָנֹכִי הָרִיתִי אֵת כָּלהָעָם הַזֶּה אִם אָנֹכִי יְלִדְתִּיהוּ כִּי תֹאמַר אֵלַי שָׂאֵהו בְחֵיקֶךָ כַּאֲשֶׁר יִשָּׂא הָאֹמֵן אֶת הַיֹּנֵק עַל הָאֲדָמָה אֲשֶׁר נִשְׁבַּעְתָּ לַאֲבֹתָיו
Did I conceive this entire nation? Did I give birth to them so that You should say to me, “Carry them in your bosom as a nurse carries a nursing child” to the land that You promised to their fathers?
Because Moshe was a man and not a woman, Onkelos changes the metaphors in his speech to reflect that reality. In his Aramaic translation, he renders this verse, “Am I the father of this entire nation? Are they my children so that You should say to me, ‘Carry them with your strength as a nurse carries a nursing child’ to the land that You committed to their fathers?” This removes the references to conception and childbirth.
