Chulin 5:5-6:1

Chulin 5:5

Not slaughtering an animal and its young on the same day refers to a day with the preceding night. Shimon ben Zoma explained that “one day” is mentioned in the Creation account (Genesis 1:5) and regarding not slaughtering an animal and its young on the same day. Just as the former refers to the day with the preceding night, so also the latter.

Chulin 6:1

Covering the blood (of slaughtered birds and kosher wild animals) applies both in Israel and elsewhere, both when the Temple is standing and when it isn’t, to secular food but not to sacrifices. It applies to wild animals and to birds whether they were farmed or caught. It applies to a koy (a species of animal) because there is a doubt as to whether it is wild or domesticated. A koy may not be slaughtered on yom tov (because its blood might require covering); if one slaughtered it anyway, he doesn’t cover the blood.
