3,131. If Workers Leave the Peah

Hilchos Matnos Aniyim 2:13

Let’s say that the owner of a field gave peah to the needy, but they requested peah from the other side of the field. If he gives them more produce from the other side of the field, both gifts count as peah. Similarly, if he put aside pe'ah and said, "This is peah and so is this," or "This is peah, and this," then both are peah.

Hilchos Matnos Aniyim 2:14

Workers are not permitted to harvest the field in its entirety. Rather, they must leave the appropriate volume of peah at the end of the field. However, the needy don’t have the right to it until the owner has consciously designated it. Therefore, if a needy person sees peah at the end of a field, he may not take it because of the possibility of theft until he knows that the owner of the field has consented to it as peah.
