3,059. Burning the Mixed Species of a Vineyard

Hilchos Kilayim 5:6

The prohibition of mixed species of a vineyard only applies to species of grain and vegetables; other plants may be planted in a vineyard. It should go without saying that trees are also permitted.

Hilchos Kilayim 5:7

It is prohibited to plant vegetables or grain next to vines, or vice versa. If one does so, even though he’s not liable to lashes, the produce is sanctified and one may not benefit from any of it. Rather, it must be burned as per Deuteronomy 22:9: “Lest the growth of the seed be sanctified.” Benefit is prohibited even from the straw of such grain or the wood of such vines; they must be burned. One may not use them as fuel for an oven or stove, nor may one cook with then when they’re being burned.
