3,057. Mixed Species of a Vineyard Under Biblical Law

Hilchos Kilayim 5:2

One is not punished with lashes for planting mixed species in a vineyard unless he plants a handful of wheat, barley and grapes in Israel; one who covers such seeds with soil is likewise liable to lashes. One who plants two species of vegetable or a vegetable, a grain and grapes from one hand is liable to lashes.

Hilchos Kilayim 5:3

Under Biblical law one isn’t liable unless he plants hemp, beans, or similar plants from seeds that will reach maturity along with the fruit of the vineyard; other types of seed are prohibited by rabbinic enactment. It is likewise prohibited to plant mixed species in a vineyard outside of Israel by rabbinic enactment.
