Jeremiah 10:10
וַה’ אֱלֹקים אֱמֶת הוּא אֱלֹקים חַיִּים וּמֶלֶךְ עוֹלָם מִקִּצְפּוֹ תִּרְעַשׁ הָאָרֶץ וְלֹא יָכִלוּ גוֹיִם זַעְמוֹ
Hashem G-d is the true G-d; He is the living G-d and the eternal King. The earth trembles at His wrath and the nations cannot stand against His fury.
The phrase “living G-d and eternal King” is cited in the brachos before reciting the Shema. The Radak explains that the words “living G-d” - Elokim Chaim in Hebrew – are in the plural form as a sign of respect as one would do before royalty (“pluralis maiestatis” in Latin, AKA the “royal we” as in “we are not amused).
