The phrase “living G-d and eternal King” is cited in the brachos before reciting the Shema. The Radak explains that the words “living G-d”  - Elokim Chaim in Hebrew – are in the plural form as a sign of respect as one would do before royalty (“pluralis maiestatis” in Latin, AKA the “royal we” as in “we are not amused).
