3,012. Transferring the Sanctity of a Consecrated Animal

Hilchos Arachin Vacharamin 7:5

To explain the preceding halacha, let’s say that someone takes an animal consecrated either for Temple upkeep or for the altar that became blemished and he transfers its sanctity to another animal, or he exchanges an animal consecrated for the altar. If he redeems the second animal to which the sanctity was transferred or that he exchanged for the blemished animal, he need not to add the extra fifth.

Hilchos Arachin Vacharamin 7:6

Let’s say that someone put aside a guilt offering for his atonement and it got blemished. He added a fifth and transferred its sanctity to another animal, and he brought a different guilt offering for his atonement. As is discussed in Hilchos Pesulei HaMukdashim (chapter 4), the animal that received the sanctity is left to graze. We are left with a case of doubt as to whether one must add a fifth when redeeming it. Must we do so because it’s a burnt offering, it involves another animal and it was consecrated for a different reason? Or need we not do so because its sanctity came from the original consecration, which already had a fifth paid when it was redeemed?
