1. And this is the blessing that Moshe, the prophet of Hashem,[1] blessed the children of Israel before his death. 2. He said, “Hashem was revealed from Sinai and the brilliance of His glory appeared to us[2] from Seir. He was revealed in His might from Mount Paran and with Him, holy hosts. The writing of His right (hand) from the midst of the fire, He gave us the Torah. 3. Also, He loved the tribes; all his holy ones – the house of Israel – He took them from Egypt in His might. They are led under Your cloud;[3] they travel at Your word. 4. Moshe gave[4] us the Torah – he transmitted the heritage to the community of Jacob. 5. He became King in Israel,[5] in the gathering of the heads of the people, the tribes of Israel together. 6. May Reuven live for eternal life and not die a second death,[6] and may his sons receive their inheritance in their number.
(ז) וְזֹ֣את לִיהוּדָה֮ וַיֹּאמַר֒ שְׁמַ֤ע יְהֹוָה֙ ק֣וֹל יְהוּדָ֔ה וְאֶל־עַמּ֖וֹ תְּבִיאֶ֑נּוּ יָדָיו֙ רָ֣ב ל֔וֹ וְעֵ֥זֶר מִצָּרָ֖יו תִּהְיֶֽה׃ {פ}
7. And this of[7] Yehuda: he said, “Accept, Hashem, the prayer of Yehuda in his departure to battle and return him to his people in peace. May his hands enact punishment for him against his haters, and be a help to him against his adversaries.”
[1] Rather than “the man of God.”
[2] Rather than “to them.”
[3] As opposed to “they are centered at Your feet.”
[4] Rather than “commanded.”
[5] Chumash: “Yeshurun,” a poetic name for Israel.
[6] i.e., in the Next World.
[7] Literally, “to” (and so throughout the blessings).
