One may proscribe both sacrifices of greater sanctity and those of lesser sanctity, either for the kohanim or for Temple upkeep. If he needs replace these offerings, he must pay their worth to the kohanim or for Temple upkeep. After such an animal is redeemed, he then offers it for its original purpose.

If someone vowed a certain animal as an offering and then proscribed it, its redemption is as follows: We appraise how much one would pay to sacrifice this animal as a burnt offering when not obligated to do so. Whoever pays this amount gets to bring this animal as an offering for its originally intended purpose.
