(לא) וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהֹוָה֙ אֵלַ֔י רְאֵ֗ה הַֽחִלֹּ֙תִי֙ תֵּ֣ת לְפָנֶ֔יךָ אֶת־סִיחֹ֖ן וְאֶת־אַרְצ֑וֹ הָחֵ֣ל רָ֔שׁ לָרֶ֖שֶׁת אֶת־אַרְצֽוֹ׃ (לב) וַיֵּצֵא֩ סִיחֹ֨ן לִקְרָאתֵ֜נוּ ה֧וּא וְכׇל־עַמּ֛וֹ לַמִּלְחָמָ֖ה יָֽהְצָה׃ (לג) וַֽיִּתְּנֵ֛הוּ יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵ֖ינוּ לְפָנֵ֑ינוּ וַנַּ֥ךְ אֹת֛וֹ וְאֶת־בָּנָ֖ו וְאֶת־כׇּל־עַמּֽוֹ׃ (לד) וַנִּלְכֹּ֤ד אֶת־כׇּל־עָרָיו֙ בָּעֵ֣ת הַהִ֔וא וַֽנַּחֲרֵם֙ אֶת־כׇּל־עִ֣יר מְתִ֔ם וְהַנָּשִׁ֖ים וְהַטָּ֑ף לֹ֥א הִשְׁאַ֖רְנוּ שָׂרִֽיד׃ (לה) רַ֥ק הַבְּהֵמָ֖ה בָּזַ֣זְנוּ לָ֑נוּ וּשְׁלַ֥ל הֶעָרִ֖ים אֲשֶׁ֥ר לָכָֽדְנוּ׃ (לו) מֵֽעֲרֹעֵ֡ר אֲשֶׁר֩ עַל־שְׂפַת־נַ֨חַל אַרְנֹ֜ן וְהָעִ֨יר אֲשֶׁ֤ר בַּנַּ֙חַל֙ וְעַד־הַגִּלְעָ֔ד לֹ֤א הָֽיְתָה֙ קִרְיָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר שָׂגְבָ֖ה מִמֶּ֑נּוּ אֶת־הַכֹּ֕ל נָתַ֛ן יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵ֖ינוּ לְפָנֵֽינוּ׃ (לז) רַ֛ק אֶל־אֶ֥רֶץ בְּנֵי־עַמּ֖וֹן לֹ֣א קָרָ֑בְתָּ כׇּל־יַ֞ד נַ֤חַל יַבֹּק֙ וְעָרֵ֣י הָהָ֔ר וְכֹ֥ל אֲשֶׁר־צִוָּ֖ה יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃
(לא) וַאֲמַר יְיָ לִי חֲזֵי שָׁרֵיתִי לְמִמְסַר קֳדָמָךְ יָת סִיחֹן וְיָת אַרְעֵיהּ שְׁרֵי לְתָרָכוּתֵיהּ לְמֵירַת יָת אַרְעֵיהּ: (לב) וּנְפַק סִיחֹן לְקַדָּמוּתָנָא הוּא וְכָל עַמֵּיהּ לַאֲגָחָא קְרָבָא לְיָהַץ: (לג) וּמָסְרֵיהּ יְיָ אֱלָהָנָא קֳדָמָנָא וּמְחֵנָא יָתֵיהּ וְיָת בְּנוֹהִי וְיָת כָּל עַמֵּיהּ: (לד) וּכְבַשְׁנָא יָת כָּל קִרְווֹהִי בְּעִדָּנָא הַהִיא וְגַמַּרְנָא יָת כָּל קִרְוֵי גֻבְרַיָּא וּנְשַׁיָּא וְטַפְלָא לָא אַשְׁאַרְנָא מְשֵׁזֵב: (לה) לְחוֹד בְּעִירָא בַּזָּנָא לָנָא וַעֲדִי קִרְוַיָּא דִּי כְבַשְׁנָא: (לו) מֵעֲרֹעֵר דִּי עַל כֵּיף נַחֲלָא דְאַרְנֹן וְקַרְתָּא דִי בְנַחֲלָא וְעַד גִּלְעָד לָא הֲוַת קַרְתָּא דִּי תְקֵפַת מִנָּנָא יָת כֹּלָּא מְסַר יְיָ אֱלָהָנָא קֳדָמָנָא: (לז) לְחוֹד לְאַרְעָא בְנֵי עַמּוֹן לָא קָרֶבְתָּא כָּל כֵּיף נַחֲלָא יוּבְקָא וְקִרְוֵי טוּרָא וְכֹל דִּי פַקִּיד יְיָ אֱלָהָנָא:
31. Hashem said to me, ‘See, I have started to place before you Sichon and his land. Start to displace him, to inherit his land.’ 32. Sichon went out to meet us – he and all his people – to fight (in) war at Yahatz. 33. Hashem our God gave him before us and we struck him and his sons and all his people. 34. We conquered all his cities at that time, and we destroyed all the cities – the men, and the women and the children; we left no survivor. 35. Only the animals we took as spoils for ourselves, and the plunder of the cities that we captured. 36. From Aroeir that is on the edge of the Arnon valley, and the city that is in the valley and until the Gilad, there was not a city that was mightier than us; Hashem our God delivered everything before us. 37. Only to the land of the children of Ammon you did not draw near, the whole side of the Yabok valley and the cities of the mountain, and all that Hashem our God commanded.
Chapter 3
(א) וַנֵּ֣פֶן וַנַּ֔עַל דֶּ֖רֶךְ הַבָּשָׁ֑ן וַיֵּצֵ֣א עוֹג֩ מֶֽלֶךְ־הַבָּשָׁ֨ן לִקְרָאתֵ֜נוּ ה֧וּא וְכׇל־עַמּ֛וֹ לַמִּלְחָמָ֖ה אֶדְרֶֽעִי׃ (ב) וַיֹּ֨אמֶר יְהֹוָ֤ה אֵלַי֙ אַל־תִּירָ֣א אֹת֔וֹ כִּ֣י בְיָדְךָ֞ נָתַ֧תִּי אֹת֛וֹ וְאֶת־כׇּל־עַמּ֖וֹ וְאֶת־אַרְצ֑וֹ וְעָשִׂ֣יתָ לּ֔וֹ כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשִׂ֗יתָ לְסִיחֹן֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ הָֽאֱמֹרִ֔י אֲשֶׁ֥ר יוֹשֵׁ֖ב בְּחֶשְׁבּֽוֹן׃ (ג) וַיִּתֵּן֩ יְהֹוָ֨ה אֱלֹהֵ֜ינוּ בְּיָדֵ֗נוּ גַּ֛ם אֶת־ע֥וֹג מֶֽלֶךְ־הַבָּשָׁ֖ן וְאֶת־כׇּל־עַמּ֑וֹ וַנַּכֵּ֕הוּ עַד־בִּלְתִּ֥י הִשְׁאִֽיר־ל֖וֹ שָׂרִֽיד׃ (ד) וַנִּלְכֹּ֤ד אֶת־כׇּל־עָרָיו֙ בָּעֵ֣ת הַהִ֔וא לֹ֤א הָֽיְתָה֙ קִרְיָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹא־לָקַ֖חְנוּ מֵֽאִתָּ֑ם שִׁשִּׁ֥ים עִיר֙ כׇּל־חֶ֣בֶל אַרְגֹּ֔ב מַמְלֶ֥כֶת ע֖וֹג בַּבָּשָֽׁן׃ (ה) כׇּל־אֵ֜לֶּה עָרִ֧ים בְּצֻרֹ֛ת חוֹמָ֥ה גְבֹהָ֖ה דְּלָתַ֣יִם וּבְרִ֑יחַ לְבַ֛ד מֵעָרֵ֥י הַפְּרָזִ֖י הַרְבֵּ֥ה מְאֹֽד׃ (ו) וַנַּחֲרֵ֣ם אוֹתָ֔ם כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשִׂ֔ינוּ לְסִיחֹ֖ן מֶ֣לֶךְ חֶשְׁבּ֑וֹן הַחֲרֵם֙ כׇּל־עִ֣יר מְתִ֔ם הַנָּשִׁ֖ים וְהַטָּֽף׃ (ז) וְכׇל־הַבְּהֵמָ֛ה וּשְׁלַ֥ל הֶעָרִ֖ים בַּזּ֥וֹנוּ לָֽנוּ׃ (ח) וַנִּקַּ֞ח בָּעֵ֤ת הַהִוא֙ אֶת־הָאָ֔רֶץ מִיַּ֗ד שְׁנֵי֙ מַלְכֵ֣י הָאֱמֹרִ֔י אֲשֶׁ֖ר בְּעֵ֣בֶר הַיַּרְדֵּ֑ן מִנַּ֥חַל אַרְנֹ֖ן עַד־הַ֥ר חֶרְמֽוֹן׃ (ט) צִידֹנִ֛ים יִקְרְא֥וּ לְחֶרְמ֖וֹן שִׂרְיֹ֑ן וְהָ֣אֱמֹרִ֔י יִקְרְאוּ־ל֖וֹ שְׂנִֽיר׃ (י) כֹּ֣ל ׀ עָרֵ֣י הַמִּישֹׁ֗ר וְכׇל־הַגִּלְעָד֙ וְכׇל־הַבָּשָׁ֔ן עַד־סַלְכָ֖ה וְאֶדְרֶ֑עִי עָרֵ֛י מַמְלֶ֥כֶת ע֖וֹג בַּבָּשָֽׁן׃ (יא) כִּ֣י רַק־ע֞וֹג מֶ֣לֶךְ הַבָּשָׁ֗ן נִשְׁאַר֮ מִיֶּ֣תֶר הָרְפָאִים֒ הִנֵּ֤ה עַרְשׂוֹ֙ עֶ֣רֶשׂ בַּרְזֶ֔ל הֲלֹ֣ה הִ֔וא בְּרַבַּ֖ת בְּנֵ֣י עַמּ֑וֹן תֵּ֧שַׁע אַמּ֣וֹת אׇרְכָּ֗הּ וְאַרְבַּ֥ע אַמּ֛וֹת רׇחְבָּ֖הּ בְּאַמַּת־אִֽישׁ׃ (יב) וְאֶת־הָאָ֧רֶץ הַזֹּ֛את יָרַ֖שְׁנוּ בָּעֵ֣ת הַהִ֑וא מֵעֲרֹעֵ֞ר אֲשֶׁר־עַל־נַ֣חַל אַרְנֹ֗ן וַחֲצִ֤י הַֽר־הַגִּלְעָד֙ וְעָרָ֔יו נָתַ֕תִּי לָרֽאוּבֵנִ֖י וְלַגָּדִֽי׃ (יג) וְיֶ֨תֶר הַגִּלְעָ֤ד וְכׇל־הַבָּשָׁן֙ מַמְלֶ֣כֶת ע֔וֹג נָתַ֕תִּי לַחֲצִ֖י שֵׁ֣בֶט הַֽמְנַשֶּׁ֑ה כֹּ֣ל חֶ֤בֶל הָֽאַרְגֹּב֙ לְכׇל־הַבָּשָׁ֔ן הַה֥וּא יִקָּרֵ֖א אֶ֥רֶץ רְפָאִֽים׃ (יד) יָאִ֣יר בֶּן־מְנַשֶּׁ֗ה לָקַח֙ אֶת־כׇּל־חֶ֣בֶל אַרְגֹּ֔ב עַד־גְּב֥וּל הַגְּשׁוּרִ֖י וְהַמַּֽעֲכָתִ֑י וַיִּקְרָא֩ אֹתָ֨ם עַל־שְׁמ֤וֹ אֶת־הַבָּשָׁן֙ חַוֺּ֣ת יָאִ֔יר עַ֖ד הַיּ֥וֹם הַזֶּֽה׃
(א) וְאִתְפְּנֵינָא וּסְלֶקְנָא אֹרַח דְּמַתְנָן וּנְפַק עוֹג מַלְכָּא דְּמַתְנָן לְקַדָּמוּתָנָא הוּא וְכָל עַמֵּיהּ לַאֲגָחָא קְרָבָא אֶדְרֶעִי: (ב) וַאֲמַר יְיָ לִי לָא תִדְחַל יָתֵיהּ אֲרֵי בִידָךְ מְסָרִית יָתֵיהּ וְיָת כָּל עַמֵּיהּ וְיָת אַרְעֵיהּ וְתַעְבֶּד לֵיהּ כְּמָא דִי עֲבַדְתָּא לְסִיחֹן מַלְכָּא דֶאֱמֹרָאָה דִּי יָתֵב בְּחֶשְׁבּוֹן: (ג) וּמְסַר יְיָ אֱלָהָנָא בִּידָנָא אַף יָת עוֹג מַלְכָּא דְמַתְנָן וְיָת כָּל עַמֵּיהּ וּמְחִנּוֹהִי עַד דְּלָא אִשְׁתָּאַר לֵיהּ מְשֵׁזֵב: (ד) וּכְבַשְׁנָא יָת כָּל קִרְווֹהִי בְּעִדָּנָא הַהִיא לָא הֲוַת קַרְתָּא דִּי לָא נְסִבְנָא מִנְּהוֹן שִׁתִּין קִרְוִין כָּל בֵּית פָּלָךְ טְרָכוֹנָא מַלְכְּוָתָא דְעוֹג בְּמַתְנָן: (ה) כָּל אִלֵּין קִרְוִין כְּרִיכָן מַקְּפָן שׁוּר רָם דִּילְהֶן דָּשִׁין וְעַבְּרִין בַּר מִקִּרְוֵי פַּצְחַיָּא סַגִּי לַחֲדָא: (ו) וְגַמַּרְנָא יָתְהוֹן כְּמָא דִי עֲבַדְנָא לְסִיחֹן מַלְכָּא דְחֶשְׁבּוֹן גַּמַּר כָּל קִרְוֵי גֻבְרַיָּא נְשַׁיָּא וְטַפְלָא: (ז) וְכָל בְּעִירָא וַעֲדִי קִרְוַיָּא בַּזָּנָא לָנָא: (ח) וּנְסִבְנָא בְּעִדָּנָא הַהִיא יָת אַרְעָא מִיָּדָא תְּרֵין מַלְכֵי אֱמֹרָאָה דִּי בְּעִבְרָא דְיַרְדְּנָא מִנַּחֲלָא דְאַרְנֹן עַד טוּרָא דְחֶרְמוֹן: (ט) צִידֹנָאֵי קְרָאן לְחֶרְמוֹן סִרְיֹן וֶאֱמֹרָאֵי קְרָאן לֵיהּ טוּר תַּלְגָּא: (י) כֹּל קִרְוֵי מֵישְׁרָא וְכָל גִּלְעָד וְכָל דְּמַתְנָן עַד סַלְכָה וְאֶדְרֶעִי קִרְוֵי מַלְכְּוָתָא דְעוֹג בְּמַתְנָן: (יא) אֲרֵי לְחוֹד עוֹג מַלְכָּא דְמַתְנָן אִשְׁתָּאַר מִשְּׁאָר גִּבָּרַיָּא הָא עַרְסֵיהּ עַרְסָא דְפַרְזְלָא הֲלָא הִיא בְּרַבַּת בְּנֵי עַמּוֹן תְּשַׁע אַמִּין אָרְכַּהּ וְאַרְבַּע אַמִּין פְּתָיַהּ בְּאַמַת מְלַךְ: (יב) וְיָת אַרְעָא הָדָא יְרִיתְנָא בְּעִדָּנָא הַהִיא מֵעֲרֹעֵר דִּי עַל נַחֲלָא דְאַרְנֹן וּפַלְגּוּת טוּרָא דְגִלְעָד וְקִרְווֹהִי יְהָבִית לְשִׁבְטָא דִרְאוּבֵן וּלְשִׁבְטָא דְגָד: (יג) וּשְׁאָר גִּלְעָד וְכָל דְּמַתְנָן מַלְכְּוָתָא דְעוֹג יְהָבִית לְפַלְגוּת שִׁבְטָא דִמְנַשֶּׁה כֹּל בֵּית פָּלַךְ טְרָכוֹנָא לְכָל מַתְנָן הַהוּא מִתְקְרֵי אַרְעָא גִבָּרַיָּא: (יד) יָאִיר בַּר מְנַשֶּׁה נְסִיב יָת כָּל בֵּית פָּלַךְ טְרָכוֹנָא עַד תְּחוּם גְּשׁוּרָאָה וְאַפְקֵירוֹס וּקְרָא יָתְהוֹן עַל שְׁמֵיהּ יָת מַתְנָן כַּפְרָנֵי יָאִיר עַד יוֹמָא הָדֵין:
1. We turned and we ascended towards the Masnan[1] road, and Og, the king of Masnan, came out to meet us – he and all his people – to fight a war at Edrei. 2. Hashem said to me, ‘Do not fear him because I have delivered him, and all his people and his land, into your hand. Do to him as you did to Sichon, the king of the Amorites, who dwelled in Cheshbon.’ 3. Hashem our God also gave Og, king of Masnan, in our hand, and all his people, and we struck them until no remnant of him remained. 4. We captured all his cities at that time. There was not a city that we didn’t take from them – 60 cities,[2] the whole Trachona region,[3] the kingdom of Og in Masnan. 5. All these were fortified cities – surrounded by high wall(s) that have gates and bars, aside from unwalled cities that are very numerous. 6. We destroyed them as we did to Sichon, king of Cheshbon; we destroyed every city – the men, the women and the children, 7. and all the animals and the plunder of the cities we took for ourselves as spoils. 8. We seized, at that time, the land from the hand of the two kings of the Amorite(s) that is on the other side of the Jordan, from the Arnon valley to Mount Chermon – 9. Tzidonim called Chermon ‘Siryon,’ and the Amorites called it ‘the mountain of snow’[4] – 10. all the cities of the plain, and all the Gilad and all the Masnan until Salka and Edrei, the cities of Og’s kingdom in Masnan. 11. Because only Og, the king of Masnan, remained from the remnant of the mighty. Behold, his bedframe is a bedframe of iron; it is in Rabbah of the children of Ammon. Its length is nine cubits and its width is four cubits in the cubit of the king![5] 12. And this land which we bestowed at that time: from Aroeir that is on the Arnon valley, and half the Gilad mountain and its cities, I gave to the tribe of Reuven and to the tribe of Gad.[6] 13. The rest of the Gilad and all of the Masnan, Og’s kingdom, I gave to the half-tribe of Menashe – the whole Trachona region, all of Masnan that is called the land of the mighty. 14. Yair son of Menashe took the whole Trachona region until the border of the G’shurites and the Afkeiros[7] and he called them – Masnan – by his name: the villages of Yair,[8] until this very day.
