Chapter 1
(א) אֵ֣לֶּה הַדְּבָרִ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֨ר דִּבֶּ֤ר מֹשֶׁה֙ אֶל־כׇּל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל בְּעֵ֖בֶר הַיַּרְדֵּ֑ן בַּמִּדְבָּ֡ר בָּֽעֲרָבָה֩ מ֨וֹל ס֜וּף בֵּֽין־פָּארָ֧ן וּבֵֽין־תֹּ֛פֶל וְלָבָ֥ן וַחֲצֵרֹ֖ת וְדִ֥י זָהָֽב׃ (ב) אַחַ֨ד עָשָׂ֥ר יוֹם֙ מֵֽחֹרֵ֔ב דֶּ֖רֶךְ הַר־שֵׂעִ֑יר עַ֖ד קָדֵ֥שׁ בַּרְנֵֽעַ׃ (ג) וַיְהִי֙ בְּאַרְבָּעִ֣ים שָׁנָ֔ה בְּעַשְׁתֵּֽי־עָשָׂ֥ר חֹ֖דֶשׁ בְּאֶחָ֣ד לַחֹ֑דֶשׁ דִּבֶּ֤ר מֹשֶׁה֙ אֶל־בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל כְּ֠כֹ֠ל אֲשֶׁ֨ר צִוָּ֧ה יְהֹוָ֛ה אֹת֖וֹ אֲלֵהֶֽם׃ (ד) אַחֲרֵ֣י הַכֹּת֗וֹ אֵ֚ת סִיחֹן֙ מֶ֣לֶךְ הָֽאֱמֹרִ֔י אֲשֶׁ֥ר יוֹשֵׁ֖ב בְּחֶשְׁבּ֑וֹן וְאֵ֗ת ע֚וֹג מֶ֣לֶךְ הַבָּשָׁ֔ן אֲשֶׁר־יוֹשֵׁ֥ב בְּעַשְׁתָּרֹ֖ת בְּאֶדְרֶֽעִי׃ (ה) בְּעֵ֥בֶר הַיַּרְדֵּ֖ן בְּאֶ֣רֶץ מוֹאָ֑ב הוֹאִ֣יל מֹשֶׁ֔ה בֵּאֵ֛ר אֶת־הַתּוֹרָ֥ה הַזֹּ֖את לֵאמֹֽר׃ (ו) יְהֹוָ֧ה אֱלֹהֵ֛ינוּ דִּבֶּ֥ר אֵלֵ֖ינוּ בְּחֹרֵ֣ב לֵאמֹ֑ר רַב־לָכֶ֥ם שֶׁ֖בֶת בָּהָ֥ר הַזֶּֽה׃ (ז) פְּנ֣וּ ׀ וּסְע֣וּ לָכֶ֗ם וּבֹ֨אוּ הַ֥ר הָֽאֱמֹרִי֮ וְאֶל־כׇּל־שְׁכֵנָיו֒ בָּעֲרָבָ֥ה בָהָ֛ר וּבַשְּׁפֵלָ֥ה וּבַנֶּ֖גֶב וּבְח֣וֹף הַיָּ֑ם אֶ֤רֶץ הַֽכְּנַעֲנִי֙ וְהַלְּבָנ֔וֹן עַד־הַנָּהָ֥ר הַגָּדֹ֖ל נְהַר־פְּרָֽת׃ (ח) רְאֵ֛ה נָתַ֥תִּי לִפְנֵיכֶ֖ם אֶת־הָאָ֑רֶץ בֹּ֚אוּ וּרְשׁ֣וּ אֶת־הָאָ֔רֶץ אֲשֶׁ֣ר נִשְׁבַּ֣ע יְ֠הֹוָ֠ה לַאֲבֹ֨תֵיכֶ֜ם לְאַבְרָהָ֨ם לְיִצְחָ֤ק וּֽלְיַעֲקֹב֙ לָתֵ֣ת לָהֶ֔ם וּלְזַרְעָ֖ם אַחֲרֵיהֶֽם׃ (ט) וָאֹמַ֣ר אֲלֵכֶ֔ם בָּעֵ֥ת הַהִ֖וא לֵאמֹ֑ר לֹא־אוּכַ֥ל לְבַדִּ֖י שְׂאֵ֥ת אֶתְכֶֽם׃ (י) יְהֹוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵיכֶ֖ם הִרְבָּ֣ה אֶתְכֶ֑ם וְהִנְּכֶ֣ם הַיּ֔וֹם כְּכוֹכְבֵ֥י הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם לָרֹֽב׃ (יא) יְהֹוָ֞ה אֱלֹהֵ֣י אֲבֽוֹתֵכֶ֗ם יֹסֵ֧ף עֲלֵיכֶ֛ם כָּכֶ֖ם אֶ֣לֶף פְּעָמִ֑ים וִיבָרֵ֣ךְ אֶתְכֶ֔ם כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר דִּבֶּ֥ר לָכֶֽם׃
(א) אִלֵּין פִּתְגָּמַיָּא דִּי מַלִּיל משֶׁה עִם כָּל יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּעִבְרָא דְּיַרְדְּנָא אוֹכַח יָתְהוֹן עַל דְּחָבוּ בְמַדְבְּרָא וְעַל דְּאַרְגִּיזוּ בְמֵישְׁרָא לָקֳבֵל יַם סוּף בְּפָארָן דְּאִתַּפָּלוּ עַל מַנָּא וּבַחֲצֵרוֹת דְּאַרְגִּיזוּ עַל בִּשְׂרָא וְעַל דַּעֲבָדוּ עֵגַל דִּדְהָב: (ב) מַהֲלַךְ חַד עֲשַׂר יוֹמִין מֵחֹרֵב אֹרַח טוּרָא דְשֵׂעִיר עַד רְקַם גֵּיאָה: (ג) וַהֲוָה בְּאַרְבְּעִין שְׁנִין בְּחַד עֲשַׂר יַרְחָא בְּחַד לְיַרְחָא מַלִּיל משֶׁה עִם בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל כְּכֹל דִּי פַקִּיד יְיָ יָתֵיהּ לְוָתְהוֹן: (ד) בָּתַר דִּמְחָא יָת סִיחוֹן מַלְכָּא דֶאֱמֹרָאָה דְּיָתֵב בְּחֶשְׁבּוֹן וְיָת עוֹג מַלְכָּא דְמַתְנָן דְּיָתֵב בְּעַשְׁתָּרֹת בְּאֶדְרֶעִי: (ה) בְּעִבְרָא דְּיַרְדְּנָא בְּאַרְעָא דְמוֹאָב שָׁרִי משֶׁה פָּרֵשׁ יָת אוּלְפַן אוֹרַיְתָא הָדָא לְמֵימָר: (ו) יְיָ אֱלָהָנָא מַלִּיל עִמָּנָא בְּחֹרֵב לְמֵימָר סַגִּי לְכוֹן דִּיתֶבְתּוּן בְּטוּרָא הָדֵין: (ז) אִתְפְּנוּ וְטוּלוּ לְכוֹן וְעוּלוּ לְטוּרָא דֶאֱמֹרָאָה וּלְכָל מָגִירוֹהִי בְּמֵישְׁרַיָּא בְטוּרָא וּבִשְׁפֶלְתָּא וּבִדְרוֹמָא וּבִסְפַר יַמָּא אַרְעָא דִכְנַעֲנָאָה וְלִבְנָן עַד נַהֲרָא רַבָּא נַהֲרָא פְרָת: (ח) חֲזֵי דִּיהָבִית קֳדָמֵיכוֹן יָת אַרְעָא עוּלוּ וְאַחֲסִינוּ יָת אַרְעָא דִּי קַיַּם יְיָ לַאֲבָהָתְכוֹן לְאַבְרָהָם לְיִצְחָק וּלְיַעֲקֹב לְמִתַּן לְהוֹן וְלִבְנֵיהוֹן בַּתְרֵיהוֹן: (ט) וַאֲמָרִית לְכוֹן בְּעִדָּנָא הַהִיא לְמֵימָר לֵית אֲנָא יָכִיל בִּלְחוֹדִי לְסוֹבָרָא יָתְכוֹן: (י) יְיָ אֱלָהָכוֹן אַסְגֵּי יָתְכוֹן וְהָא אִיתֵיכוֹן יוֹמָא דֵין כְּכוֹכְבֵי שְׁמַיָּא לְמִסְגֵּי: (יא) יְיָ אֱלָהָא דַאֲבָהָתְכוֹן יוֹסֵף עֲלֵיכוֹן כְּוָתְכוֹן אֲלַף זִמְנִין וִיבָרֵךְ יָתְכוֹן כְּמָא דִי מַלִּיל לְכוֹן:
1. These are the words that Moshe spoke with all Israel on the other side of the Jordan. He chastised them for what they did in the wilderness, and for their angering (Hashem) in the plain opposite the Sea of Reeds in Paran, where they disparaged the manna,[1] in Chatzeiros where they angered (Hashem) about meat, and that they made a calf of gold;[2] 2. it’s a journey of eleven days from Choreiv by way of Mount Seir until R’kam Geiah.[3] 3. It happened in the fortieth year, in the eleventh month, on the first (day) of the month, that Moshe spoke with the children of Israel according to all that Hashem had commanded him regarding them, 4. after he struck Sichon, king of the Amorites, who dwelled in Cheshbon, and Og, king of Masnan,[4] who dwelled in Ashtaros, in Edrei. 5. On the other side of the Jordan, in the land of Moav, Moshe started to explain the instruction of this Torah, saying: 6.[5] “Hashem our God spoke with us at Choreiv, saying: You have dwelled at this mountain long enough.[6] 7. Turn and transport yourselves, and come to the mountain of the Amorites and to all its neighbors in the plain, on the mountain and in the lowland, and in the south, and on the shore of the sea, the land of the Canaanites and the Lebanon, until the great river, the Euphrates River. 8. See that I give the land before you. Come, inherit the land that Hashem swore to your fathers, to Avraham, to Yitzchak and to Yaakov, to give to them and to their descendants[7] after them. 9. I said to you at that time, ‘I am unable to carry you by myself. 10. Hashem Your God has increased you and behold you today, as numerous as the stars in the sky. 11. May Hashem, the God of your ancestors, increase you a thousand times as you are, and bless you as He said to you.
